With my going off to Singapore today for a week, Yayoi and I decided to take another daytrip away from Windsor yesterday to Waddesdon Manor, near Aylesbury.
Waddesdon Manor housed four generations of the Rothschild family and was given to the National Trust in 1957. The house and gardens are both very grand with a lot of 18th century paintings and furniture.
In the gardens, I was particularly impressed with the Rose Garden, which was filled with fantastic scents. It is the first time I have been in a rose garden and it is now clear why people try to build them. Yayoi and I took photos of the names of roses we like for future reference. The Jude the Obscure rose smells of lychee – just amazing!
